On January 14, the annual Guild Housing Fair will take place in the Great Hall between 11am and 3pm.
Next Tuesday’s event will provide a unique opportunity to speak to many of Exeter’s landlords in one place.
Up to 50 private landlords and 20 letting agents are expected to attend.
Many of the landlords, as well as the agents, will manage more than one property.
Landlords and letting agents will be available to discuss their properties, rent and arranging viewings.
The Guild advises has advised students “to look out for the AfS/Unipol accreditation mark which means that a landlord has signed up to a code of best practice and has allowed their properties to be independently inspected.”
They also place a clear emphasis on “thinking about who you want to live with, where you want to live, and what your budget is before you attend the event.”
The Guild website offers a wealth of advice to consider before attending the Housing Fair.
The advice concerns: choosing housemates, finding an accredited landlord, budgeting, getting your tenancy agreement checked and other FAQs.
The website also provides some useful contacts for further advice: the Students’ Guild Advice Unit, email@example.com and the VP Welfare & Community, Chris Rootkin, firstname.lastname@example.org.
