A student has set up a ‘University of Exeter Talks’ Facebook page to advertise and share upcoming talks on campus.
With 373 Facebook ‘likes’ since Saturday, the page provides students with information on where and when talks will take place. So far, these have included events from the Students’ Guild, Classics Society, Debating Society and Politics Society.
The creator of the page, fourth year student Tom Walpole, commented: After seeing the huge turnout for the Natalie Bennett talk and developing interest on other similar Facebook events, I felt that there was a growing need to collate these talks onto one page. I believe that having one accessible source will not only help students find the talks that interest them, but it will help give some publicity to the great societies and groups who are organising them.’
Exepose’s ‘Media Week’ has also been advertised on the page. Events are happening all week, including an ‘Are broadsheets better than tabloids?’ talk with John Stevens, a Daily Mail journalist and Exeter alumnus, on Friday at 1pm in the M&D room in Devonshire House.
