XTV has launched a 24/7 XTV ON service

by News

Exeter’s award-winning student television station XTV has launched its XTV ON service, which will allow viewers to view XTV content on a constant stream.

Previously, XTV’s content was primarily viewable on YouTube, with the most recent videos made by the society being the most viewed. However, through XTV On, viewers are able to more easily access content on a 24/7 stream.

Currently, the catalog includes 255 different shows, and over 30,000 episodes of XTV content scheduled for the foreseeable future, which equates to over 100,000 hours of content. The service plans to expand further, with XTV Gold – the YouTube channel that currently holds all of XTV’s older content, going back until 1992 when Guy Gudney founded the society – being added to the schedule.

Alistair Heath, the 2014-2015 Technical Manager and the new Southern Regional Officer for the National Student Television Awards, developed the service for XTV, spending a year designing and coding the XTV On.

This new service comes after XTV won eight awards at the 2015 National Student Television Awards, the most that XTV has won in the history of the awards.
