Students studying at the Universities of Falmouth and Exeter have launched a new free newspaper to provide students with news and updates from Penryn campus.
The publication, The Falmouth Anchor, was formed in early 2015 and is partially funded by the Falmouth and Exeter Student’s Union (FXU). The paper will have a print run of 400 and will be published bi-monthly from September.
As well as providing Penryn students with news and information whilst attending the universities, The Falmouth Anchor also has Opinion, Arts, Travel and Sport sections that any student can contribute to or write for.
Membership to The Falmouth Anchor costs £3, which allows students access to all events held by the newspaper at reduced rates or for free.
Speaking to Exeposé, Editor Cecelia Armstrong said: “This is our first full year running the paper so we’re keen to establish ourselves as a reliable source of information on campus.
“Our aims this year are to try and grow the team behind the newspaper and get as many students as possible involved.
“Beyond this year, I’d love to see the paper evolve into a more regular publication and for it to work on strengthening our ties with the local community.”
