Pre-drinking with the new friends / strangers you’ll be living with for the next year.
Going out for the first time totally overdressed. Heels and hills don’t mix. Enjoy the 2 hour walk home.
Excessively complimenting people you’ve only just met on a night out.
Stumbling into the kitchen at 2pm to compare hangovers with your flatmates.
Texting your Mum/ best friend for reassurance when you’re feeling a bit homesick.
Raiding the food stash your parents bought you to last the entire term at all hours of the day/night.
Going on a shopping spree to cheer yourself up. Overdraft, student loan, welcome to Urban Outfitters.
Realising that you and your flatmates have some fundamental differences.
Running out of food and resorting to eating the last dregs left over from that huge shop you did with your parents.
Figuring out both where the washing machine is and how to use it. Yay! Now your flatmates will stop judging you for wearing your Student’s Guild T-shirt 3 days in a row.
Finally being taken down by Fresher’s Flu despite you valiant efforts to fight it.
And then your course finally begins and Fresher’s is over for another year.
But don’t worry. You’ll still be calling your Mum, eating whatever you can find in the fridge and spending way more money than you have throughout the rest of the year.
