Princesshay to host discounted shopping evening

by Vince Mulcock

Strictly Students are set to host a late night shopping event at Princesshay shopping centre on Thursday 8th October.

The event will feature many local retailers, providing a night of discounted sales exclusively for Exeter’s student population.

Located in the city centre, Princesshay will be keeping its doors open for an additional two and a half hours until 21:30. In an attempt to encourage repeat sales, over 35 retailers and restaurants have confirmed they will be extending their open hours to allow for student shopping, with most retailers offering reduced prices of around 20%.

Debenhams, River Island, Superdry, Sweatshop by Nike and Topshop are a few of the confirmed retailers to have announced their participation, while restaurants Nandos, Yo-Sushi, Jamie’s Italian and others are offering deals to those in attendance.

Around 3,500 students are predicted to attend and events have been arranged to entertain the crowd. These include a Kooky Booth’s Photo Booth, sampling stands by Wagamama and Portlebay, plus a ‘Pamper Clinic’ hosted by beauty salons The Cove, Saks and Clarins.

Princesshay’s “party atmosphere” is due to be opened by a mystery guest who will later go on to DJ the evening. Break-dancers are set to provide entertainment to the crowd and Ashley Jeary of Radio Exe will be in attendance to provide the evening’s soundtrack.

Strictly Students have advised pre-registering on their website for faster access, while a valid student ID is required for entry to the event. A full list of participating retailers can be found on Princesshay’s website, which will be updated in accordance with future announcements.
