With seated dining for 80 and a drive-through service, the new restaurant will create 50 jobs in Exeter, according to a KFC spokesperson.
“We are delighted to be opening a new drive-thru restaurant in Marsh Barton,” the spokesperson told Exeter Express and Echo.
“We look forward to welcoming residents into the store.”
The new branch will open on the Alphington Road Food Court – which is also set to welcome Devon’s first drive-through Starbucks in early 2016.
While Exeter may already boast four KFC restaurants – on Sidwell Street, South Street, Cowick Street and Rydon Lane – the new branch will be the first in the city’s Marsh Barton district.
Across the River Exe and around two miles away from both Exeter campuses, it may be a bit of a trek for most students – and the Sidwell Street restaurant will remain the closest to both campuses.
However, the new KFC promises a more modern appearance than the city’s existing restaurants.
It will open at the end of November.
