Azeem’s flute recital in the Forum

by Jessica Stanier

Viral Facebook flautist, Azeem Ward, performed one of his famous recitals in the Forum today to record footage for a music video, according to event organisers.

Having toured several UK universities, this was the musician’s final concert before taking the coach to Edinburgh and flying home to California. Azeem was accompanied by DJ Underbelly for the performance. He played for over 30 minutes before posing for photos with fans and decamping to the Ram Bar.

Azeem rose to fame after thousands RSVP’d to his small flute recital promoted on Facebook, many of whom were Brits. More than 55,000 people watched the live stream of the original flute recital, with many flying to California from around the world especially to attend the event. Respondents to an online poll voted his “devil-may-care flute-shoulder placement” as the source of his popular appeal.
