Northcott Theatre to appear on TV tonight

The series called “On Stage”, narrated by Maureen Lipman with contributions from other theatre stars, aims to highlight the importance of local theatres as well as demonstrate how the Northcott has changed after Paul Jepson, its new artistic and executive director, took over earlier this year.

“On Stage” follows Paul in the first half a year of his job.

Mr Jepson commented: “It was a very interesting experience, and very exciting for the theatre. It is a chance for people to see exactly what we do.”

Although the Arts Council has withdrawn funding a few times and even went into administration in the past, actors such as Robert Lindsay, Lesley Joseph, John Nettles, and David Suchet started their careers at the Northcott.

Mr Jepson’s main objective now is to take the Northcott Theatre back to its glory days.

The programme will be shown again on BBC Four at 7.30pm on Tuesday, November 10.
