BREAKING: Sidwell Street closed as seriously injured man spotted hanging out of window

Students and members of the public are advised to avoid the Sidwell Street area, after a man with severe lacerations to his arm was spotted hanging out of a window.

Following eyewitness accounts of a man smashing windows in a flat on Sidwell Street, police were alerted to the scene at 4:20pm, later entering the building in riot gear.

A cordon was later placed around the scene between the Duke of York Pub and Poundstretcher and buses in the area were cancelled.

Reports now state that a teenager has been arrested on suspicion of affray and another man in his 50s is being treated at the scene by paramedics for serious injuries.

Sidwell Street has since reopened, but buses are still not operating in the area.

Update – 7:09pm:

Exeposé has obtained a photo of the scene on Sidwell Street, following the police operation earlier this evening.

Originally posted on YikYak and captioned “Bloody window from the swat siege on sidwell street today – one man seriously injured and another possibly dead”, the image depicts the windows of the flat where the incident occurred.

Reports of a death are currently unconfirmed.

The man in his 50s, who was found severely injured at the Sidwell Street scene last night, remains in a serious condition.

He has sustained a serious head injury and is currently being treated in The Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, police reports have confirmed.

The attack – conducted by a 19 year-old who has since been arrested for affray – may have come following a separate domestic issue involving the teenager, may have come following a separate domestic issue involving the teenager, Exeposé understands.
