EUCC perform well at LUBE

by Sport

On Saturday 12th March, Exeter University’s Climbing Club set off early for the final round of LUBE (London University Climbing Competition). This fourth and final round marked the culmination of early starts, lots of training, and overcoming significant injuries for the team. The A team went into the fourth round in second place, 56 points behind Cambridge in first, giving the potential opportunity to retain our team title for the third year running. Following on from a strong performance in the previous round, the team were optimistic to perform well again.

Despite this, we achieved some excellent results, with four podium positions for the day. The A team, consisting of our strongest climbers Rhys Gilbert, Will Robertson, and Emily Fell, sustained their 2nd place, against an incredibly strong performance from Cambridge. Rhys Gilbert achieved 3rd place overall for the series, taking the top position for Exeter men. Emily Fell came 3rd in the fourth round, consolidating her overall lead, taking 1st place overall for the series for the females, despite an injury in early in the second round which prevented her from finishing competing in the round. Full results are still to be released to confirm the remaining positions.
