Jo Summers is a new face in Exeter music. The singer-songwriter spent her childhood in Dubai, but now calls Plymouth home, while studying at the University of Exeter. Her minimalistic strumming patterns place full attention on her voice and the offbeat romantic stories embedded within the lyrics. Having secured a place at the heart of XpressionFM’s Exe List, names like Gabrielle Aplin and Lucy Rose in their acoustic years spring to mind, with influences ranging in all shapes and sizes from Joni Mitchell to Ed Sheeran; further airtime on BBC Introducing’s Roundtable saw ‘Seven Million’ receive praise from all quarters, suggesting Jo is one to keep an eye on over the next few years.
