Headliners announced for Radio 1’s Big Weekend

by Jessica Stanier

Mumford & Sons, Coldplay and Ellie Goulding were among the acts announced for Radio 1’s Big Weekend, live on the air on Monday morning. The acts will assemble at Powderham Castle, near Exeter, for 28th-29th May, after many Exeter students will have finished their exams.

The hotly anticipated announcement was made on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Scott Mills. As Europe’s biggest free ticketed event, tickets vanished within an hour of being released earlier this month. 25,000 tickets were available for each day of the festival although many students missed out.

Main stage on Saturday:

  • Bastille
  • Chase & Status
  • Jake Bugg
  • Jess Glynne
  • Nick Jonas
  • Meghan Trainor
  • Mumford & Sons
  • Sigma
  • Tom Odell
