Exeter 2s came out victorious against fellow-clubmates EUMCC 3s in a tight season opener at Topsham Sports Ground. In a week where many Exeter students had dissertation deadlines to stick to, it would be the 3s that would run out of time, eventually losing to the 2s by just nine runs in a fascinating matchup between two of Exeter’s besting cricketing outfits.

Theo Gwyther would put in a superb innings for the 3s, carving out a century for himself, but it would all be for nought as his side just failed to reach their target.

Exeter Men’s Cricket 5s v Bath 2s (Bath won by 155 runs)

Reporter: Owain Evans, Sport Editor

EUMCC 5s fell to a poor 155-run loss against Bath in tough weather conditions at Topsham Sports Ground.

The hosts got off to a good start, with Zain Ul-Abiddin taking two wickets in the first few overs, as hail came down across the ground. Yet, this couldn’t last, as Bath went on to post an impressive score of 296-6.

Exeter struggled to find much momentum in the second innings, and found themselves retired for just 141 runs in a bad batting performance.

Exeter Netball 1s 35-57 Southampton 1s

Reporter: James Angove, Online Sport Editor

EUNC rounded off a disappointing season with a 35-57 defeat to Southampton in their first playoff match, which seals their relegation fate from the Premier Division South.

Exeter played well for much of the first half, yet struggled to take full advantage of some sloppy play from their opponents. Kate McGinley played well at both ends of the court, yet it would be to no avail as the away side swept ahead to a 57-35 victory that sealed their promotion at the expense of Exeter’s top flight status.
