The handover process began on Wednesday 1 July, with the outgoing officers set to leave the Guild on Friday 17 July.

The Students’ Guild is led by the Full-Time Officer team who are elected to office each year by the student body. Elections for the 2020/21 team took place in February and saw 19.5 per cent of the student body vote, with over 3500 votes alone for the role of Guild President.

I had a vision of Exeter as a more inclusive place where everyone can achieve their potential.

Patrick Hoyle, 2019/20 Guild President, described his time in the role as “one of the best years of my life,” despite facing challenges including “multiple rounds of industrial action, a global pandemic and the resurgence of racism on campus.”

Speaking on her election as Guild President, Sunday Blake said:

“Back in February I had a vision of Exeter as a more inclusive place where everyone can achieve their potential – and I am so grateful that thousands of students saw that vision, too, and voted it through.

“Thank you to them, and thank you to Patrick, and all my Guild colleagues, for their support in my step-up to this new role.”
