Olivia Richards recounts her experience of going out and letting loose in the club after the Pandemic.

Walking into Fever at midnight on Monday 19 July I felt a mixture of anticipation, nerves and excitement. It had been over a whole year since I had last been out. I worried that it wouldn’t be the same as I remembered or that I had romanticised the image of clubbing in my head. But, as I walked into the Cheesies room, all of these thoughts immediately vanished. As ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ by Shakira (a classic) played, all I could think about doing was dancing.

This is not to say that I didn’t feel slightly on edge throughout the night, particularly as the club slowly began to fill up until it was completely packed and there wasn’t any room for social distancing. However, the joyous atmosphere in the room, with everyone enjoying themselves and singing along, made it feel as though the Pandemic had never happened.

My first night out in Fever truly felt like a celebration of life and freedom; everyone was so appreciative to be there that we all just savoured the moment and let loose on the dance floor. The nostalgia of listening to throwbacks with my friends, such as ABBA’s Dancing Queen, made the night out completely worth it in my opinion. It felt like old times and was a great way to finish my final year at university.
