Made in Exeter

Have you ever looked at your group of perfectly tanned and toned Exeter pals and thought, we really should be on TV? With all the drama surrounding the status of Annabel and Hugh’s relationship and the fact that Monty now wants to be known as M Dot, you’re practically screaming out for your own reality […]

Tackling concussion

On 6 February, the world’s eyes turned to one of Europe’s most popular sporting events, as the Six Nations began. However, just one day later, the event was marred by a minor controversy. In the Ireland vs Wales match, Irish centre Keith Earls took Welsh full back Liam Williams over the horizontal and injured him. […]

Heightism: and the short of it

To say that height is unimportant in our image-obsessed society would be an incredibly tone-deaf statement. You only have to take a quick look at a fashion runway or a billboard, and you will see that tall, muscly men and the slender women on their arms are set as the ultimate aesthetic goals. Commercial fashion […]

I’m loving Angels instead: Angels in America review

The 1980s AIDS epidemic and its brutal effects forms the basis of Tony Kushner’s moving Angels in America, and EUTCo’s handling of such a delicate, yet enduringly relevant topic is masterful. The story follows two couples, Louis (Ollie McLellan) and Prior (Henry Smith), and Joe (Nick Cope) and Harper (Sophy Dexter). Their respective worlds come […]

Exams: Festive Hell

Three days after ringing in 2016, I departed London and began my journey back to Exeter. My suitcase was brimming with brand new socks, some stolen Quality Streets (soz Mum) and unfortunately, my revision notes were in there too. The worst part about heading back to Exeter so early, is that I was leaving behind […]

4 niche things you can buy in the marketplace

Ah The Marketplace, the hub of all things weird and wonderful at the University of Exeter. While we may complain about their ludicrously overpriced sandwiches, I have to admit that the food is quite nice and there are actually some good deals on snacks. While they might not be seen as the height of edginess, […]

Single Review: Little Mix – Black Magic

Little Mix ‘Black Magic’ 21 May 2015   All the way back in May, X Factor alumni Little Mix released their now omni-present song ‘Black Magic’ and despite this historical event being three months ago, the song is still haunting both radio stations and my eardrums. I actually don’t mind Little Mix that much. […]

Why you always lyin’?

Recently, there has been a new Vine taking the internet by storm. It features an overly excited American man with pretty slick dance moves singing about someone who is ‘always lying’. The deep, relatable lyrics include ‘why the f*ck you lying? Why you always lying? Mmmohmygawd stop f*ckin’ lying!’ (If you haven’t seen said video […]

As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell Group universities, we stand united against the Russell Group statement which declared ‘no detriment’ or ‘safety net’ policies not to be ‘appropriate’ or ‘necessary’ for students at this time.

Having listened to students at our universities, we are calling on the Russell Group to act compassionately and empathetically and to reconsider their stance on ‘no detriment’ politics for assessments this year.

Students deserve to be listened to.
