Reality Check: New You Won’t Be Perfect

You’re back at the busy gym, with seemingly everyone else at University, and even though you had to wait for each machine you’re pleased you went – you’re going to kick 2017’s butt! A few days later you wake up and debate staying in bed. You snooze for 10, 15, 30 minutes and then decide […]

Fitness for the Mind

As exam season looms the collective stress levels of all Exeter students soars. What is the best way to cope with this increase in stress? Chocolate would be my first port of call (while watching Friends from the beginning again because now was an ideal time to start that again – procrastination queen here!). Though […]

48 Hours in Paris

Since 48 hours is arguably nowhere near enough time to see all of Paris, prioritising is key when planning a short break away in the French capital. Plus, with one 48 hour trip being so reasonably priced what’s to stop you going for more than one trip? Travelling on the Eurostar benefits from a discounted […]

Myths of the mind

In a society where mental health is stigmatised, the average person (having not experienced or learnt about any mental illnesses themselves) is likely to be unaware of the true facts about mental illness (and ironically this increases stigma). So here is your first lesson about a couple of mental illnesses: What is Schizophrenia? Schizophrenia is […]

Review: The Great British Bake Off Semi-Final

This review contains spoilers.   It seems apparent that every year the standard of The Great British Bake Off increases and the bakes appear more and more obscure to the general population. There are fewer challenges involving actual cakes (as these have been done before) and more involving pastry, bread and ‘alternative ingredients’. Does this disengage […]

As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell Group universities, we stand united against the Russell Group statement which declared ‘no detriment’ or ‘safety net’ policies not to be ‘appropriate’ or ‘necessary’ for students at this time.

Having listened to students at our universities, we are calling on the Russell Group to act compassionately and empathetically and to reconsider their stance on ‘no detriment’ politics for assessments this year.

Students deserve to be listened to.
