Restaurant Review: Las Iguanas

The gently spinning fans, light and airy ambience and sweetly spicy aroma of Las Iguanas only adds to the authenticity of this Latin American restaurant chain. Unlike most of its competitors, Las Iguanas has much more than the standard offer of burritos and fajitas to tempt the palate. The menu is rich in flavour and […]

ExTunes at the Old Firehouse, 06/03/16

The dim lights of Firehouse were set ablaze on Sunday night, 6 February, as student bands and singers took to the stage for ExTunes. Acapella group Madrigals opened the night with a unique twist on the student music scene. The entire set was a quaint throwback to the years of yore, and was further embellished […]

Album Review: Nada Surf – You Know Who You Are

After almost a four year hiatus, Nada Surf have returned to the music scene with an almighty bang, in the form of their new album You Know Who You Are. Released in February of this year, the highly anticipated eighth album from the all-American rock veterans was met with much deserved enthusiasm and appreciation. The […]

A night at the Oscars

Sunday 28 February marked the 88th Academy Awards ceremony, which took place in Los Angeles, USA. The heavily publicised awards ceremony saw a whole host of stars compete for the coveted golden man: whilst some stars finally achieved the recognition they have (arguably) long deserved, others were left sorely disappointed as some shock wins were […]

Review: Northcott’s ‘A Christmas Carol’

Sitting in Exeter’s Northcott Theatre surrounded by wide-eyed families as opposed to the usual pack of bleary-eyed students was rather perturbing to say the least, but then A Christmas Carol is the quintessential familial festive drama. Charming, heart-warming and sweet, the play catered for the family perfectly. Adults laughed at jokes that passed innocently over […]

Ask your Auntie Sabs: Week 2

Dead-set on deadlines  With so many deadlines looming, I’m spending more time in the Library than my own house right now, but being there so much has meant that I’ve begun developing a deep and utterly all-consuming crush on this guy who is also on my course, and so has the same deadlines as I […]

As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell Group universities, we stand united against the Russell Group statement which declared ‘no detriment’ or ‘safety net’ policies not to be ‘appropriate’ or ‘necessary’ for students at this time.

Having listened to students at our universities, we are calling on the Russell Group to act compassionately and empathetically and to reconsider their stance on ‘no detriment’ politics for assessments this year.

Students deserve to be listened to.
