Album Review: Ra Ra Riot – Need Your Light

Ra Ra Riot are back with their fourth album Need Your Light and it’s pretty good. You may not have heard of them and that’s fine; hailing from the New York indie scene in the mid 2000s and following the preppy baroque styling of close friends Vampire Weekend, Ra Ra Riot haven’t really made the […]

Album Review: Duran Duran – Paper Gods

First of all, there’s nothing wrong with Duran Duran. Back in the 80s they were massive, their sound and style defined an era of pop music, and there’s a reason why Heart plays ‘Rio’ on a regular basis. The thing is, their fourteenth album Paper Gods is a bit crap. There’s no other way of […]

Review: Macbeth

Whether on the screen or the stage, you can never have too much Shakespeare. The stories speak for themselves, they continue to resonate with modern audiences and offer themselves up for multiple interpretations. That being said, sometimes the best of the bunch are the ones that keep it traditional. That’s what the latest version of […]

The secret life of music in video games

Paloma Faith at The Eden Project, 24/6/15

Scott Ford heads along to Cornwall’s Eden Project for the head of Hackney eccentricity, Paloma Faith, with support from Nottingham’s Liam Bailey. “Since when was I adhering to any kind of protocol?” This is what Paloma Faith laughs to the audience at the climax of her set, dwarfed by the glass domes of the Eden […]
