The University of Exeter has had its best fundraising year in its 63-year history, having received over £15 million in philanthropic donations.

The university’s ‘Making the Exceptional Happen’ campaign has seen former students, businesses, trusts and foundations giving more than ever before to support projects and students across all disciplines on the Exeter and Cornwall campuses. ‘Making the Exceptional Happen’ launched in February 2017 with the aim of raising £60 million and 60,000 volunteering hours by 2020. The As of August 2018, the campaign stands to surpass this goal with £44.5 million and 62,000 volunteering hours raised thus far.

Donations have been able to secure a new imaging centre for dementia research, support for Classics and Ancient History research, funding for the University’s ‘Exeter Forever’ endowment fund and support for student scholarships.

Dr Shaun Curtis, Director of Global Advancement at the University of Exeter, said: “It is wonderful and also incredibly humbling to see such levels of philanthropic support. Thank you to all our donors for their outstanding generosity.”
