Las Iguanas and Café Rouge will not reopen their franchise restaurants in Exeter after parent company Casual Dining Group entered administration and was taken over by new subsidiary The Big Table.

The news comes as the Bella Italia owner closes 91 of its 250 restaurants across the UK at a cost of nearly 2,000 of the 6,000 jobs they provided. The coronavirus lockdown, in conjugation with a competitive highstreets, are being cited as the major reasons behind the decision.

Las Iguanas in Exeter, located on Queen Street, is one of only eleven Las Iguanas being closed down across the country, with the majority of restaurants affected belonging to the Café Rouge and Bella Italia chains.

However, it has been confirmed that Exeter Bella Italia, also located on Queen Street, will reopen in the near future. No reopening date has been confirmed.
