Stressing over essays? Procrastinating with Netflix? From cosy comfort shows to gripping dramas, two writers share their top binge-worthy picks!

March has been the busiest time of the year for me so far, and I rarely have time for myself until Friday night rolls around. When it finally does, I waste no time diving into my all-time favourite binge-worthy films and shows. I’m a huge fan of sitcoms. I love the comforting nostalgic feeling that Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory bring me, no matter the episode they never fail to make me laugh and are the perfect way to end a long week. When it comes to movies, I often gravitate toward early 2000s rom coms, so How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Mamma Mia are on my list, especially since I get to sing my heart out all night. My all-time favourite film must be Rumor Has It. If The Graduate wasn’t crazy enough, just wait until you watch this one.

Recently, a new Shondaland series dropped, and it’s nothing short of perfection—The Residence. Inspired by The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House by Kate Andersen Brower, this show is the perfect procrastination watch.

The setting? The White House, during a state dinner with over 200 guests—when a murder takes place. Who did it? Who’s the victim? The Residence is bound to become your new favorite show as we follow Cordelia Cupp, an eccentric detective played by Uzo Aduba.

This series is captivating and perfect for fans of How to Get Away with Murder and Sherlock Holmes!

Bringing acapella and plastic cups to the forefront of pop culture for us oldest Gen-Z kids, Pitch Perfect still holds up today as the ultimate entertainment for when you just need a bit of a laugh — and a bit of a sing. The 2012 classic has a stellar ensemble cast in the Barden Bellas, an all-female group whose leader refuses to sing anything written in this century, until new girl Beca — played by the iconic Anna Kendrick — threatens to shake things up. Beca’s not like other girls; she DJs and wears black eyeliner, but even the hardest of hearts are softened by the comfort of female friendship and camaraderie that the Bellas share.
