University of Exeter twinned with Ukrainian university
Exeter University has partnered with King Danylo University in Ukraine, as part of a national program aiming to safeguard and enhance higher education in Ukraine.
Through the Universities UK and Cormack Consultancy Group initiative, the universities will explore opportunities including joint research projects, academic exchanges, and providing English language courses. The partnership will help restore higher education in Ukraine and ensure universities play a role in post-war reconstruction, and will focus on themes such as energy security, human rights, and issues relating to veterans and trauma.
Exeter’s partnership with King Danylo is part of ongoing efforts to support higher education in Ukraine. Last year, it confirmed that it would receive six academics under the Researchers at Risk Fellowship scheme, which offers sanctuary for those facing discrimination, persecution, and violence.
Speaking about the partnership, Professor Lisa Roberts, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Exeter, said: “Twinning with King Danylo University is an exciting and momentous occasion. We are proud to be part of this UUKi initiative and to have the opportunity to build what we hope will be a long-term, strategic partnership based upon our mutual priorities and expertise, particularly across research and innovation. Higher education will play a key role in the rebuilding of Ukraine, and we hope we can be a part of that recovery.”
