Suspicious Package Leads to Rowe House Evacuation

A suspicious package arriving at Rowe House caused the student halls to be evacuated at 8.30am this morning (Wednesday 12th December).

A student at the residence received a package in the post containing a small bottle filled with liquid. In a press release this morning, Devon & Cornwall Police confirmed that: “the recipient was not expecting this item which appears to have been sent from outside the UK, and subsequently called the police”.

Devon & Cornwall Police, the fire brigade and the ambulance service were all called to the scene on St Germans Road, after the alarm was raised.

Fire crews tested the substance and confirmed that it was safe and posed no wider risk to residents or the public. The police cordon has been lifted.
