Shotgun Theatre’s ‘Spring Awakening’ – Coming Soon

by Arts & Lit

Set in provincial 1891 Germany, with a backdrop of religious and parental repression, Spring Awakening is a daring exploration of adolescence and sexual awakening.

a daring exploration of adolescence and sexual awakening

Through the angsty and delicate rock score, a group of teenagers demonstrate the painful yet beautiful story of growing up, discovering new feelings and the consequences of maturing in a society governed by an older and repressive generation. With the weight of expectation and the threat of failure, Spring Awakening explores mental health issues that are still felt today.

Through partnership with YoungMinds and Exeter Student Nightline, Shotgun Theatre hope to raise awareness about mental health issues among young people, and the lack of wellbeing support on UK university campuses.
