Single Review: Madison Beer- Stained Glass
Charlotte Black reviews Madison Beer’s newest single ‘Selfish’.
Madison Beer has released her newest single Stained Glass after demand from her fans who had been teased its release on an Instagram live earlier this year. Its lyrics, while speaking on her own experiences of vulnerability which is commendable, are not particularly transformative within the pop genre, as they are heavily dependent on the use of phrases such as ‘taking my own advice,’ ‘heart’s so heavy’, and ‘my skin is made of glass’.
However, the soft vocals and the rise and fall of the backing track instruments culminate in a somewhat haunted tone
However, the soft vocals and the rise and fall of the backing track instruments culminate in a somewhat haunted tone, which conveys the inescapable nature of the criticism Madison faces far more effectively than the lyric choices.
While this release does not measure up to the success of her previous release Selfish, the young artist’s potential is still one to look out for as she continues to release singles and hopefully smooth out the edges in time for an album release in the near future.
