The Birmingham Stage Company, in collaboration with Horrible Histories, has organised a Christmas drive-in pantomime to take place amid COVID-19 restrictions.

Two performances will be held at Exeter Racecourse on Friday 18 December, at 4:30pm and 7pm. Families will watch the show from the safety of their cars, with refreshments and toilet facilities available. Cars will stay two metres apart and traffic wardens will ensure that government regulations are followed.

The show, entitled ‘Horrible Christmas’, recounts the history of Christmas and tickets can be bought for £45 per car.

With many festive events such as Christmas markets being cancelled, innovative ideas like Birmingham Stage Company’s are needed for events to take place. Theatres have been hit particularly hard by the pandemic, with Exeter’s Northcott Theatre forced to cancel all performances after its closure in March.
