Autumn calls: fashion for Fall
Changing of the seasons calls for changing things up with your wardrobe. Olivia Richards showcases some of the key autumnal pieces you can keep coming back to year after year.
With autumn fast approaching it is time to say goodbye to mini dresses and hello to cosy layers, it is time to start wrapping up. Autumn is one of my favourite times in the year, mostly due to the array of burgundies, burnt oranges and chocolate browns as the leaves begin to change, which I think has become apparent in autumn fashion.
One thing I am really looking forward to trying out this autumn is a trench coat, I think they are so stylish and make a statement without having to do much, you could even dress it down with a hoodie and tracksuit bottoms for maximum comfort, whilst still looking fabulous. Another great thing about autumn is that it’s not freezing yet so you could even pull off the trench coat with a mini skirt or cycling shorts, which is what I have been seeing a lot lately. All in all, I would highly recommend grabbing one this autumn before they sell out.
When I come to think of autumn footwear, the first thing that pops into my mind is boots. These are not only practical to keep your feet warm from the rain and the puddles which seem to be constantly forming at this time of year, but they also add a bit of edge to a look. They also come in different lengths and colours: you could go for the classic black ankle boot or go vintage chic with a knee-high white pair to throw it back to the 70s. At the minute whilst it’s not yet absolutely freezing I love to pair them with an oversized hoodie and bare legs, as it really makes them stand out.

A personal favourite of mine for this time of year is a teddy jacket, which has been a trend for a few years now. I know not everything likes them because of the fuzzy texture, but for me they are a staple of autumn, as they are perfect to throw on with any outfit and who wouldn’t want to look like a teddy bear.
Lastly autumn would not be autumn in Exeter without the appearance of the classic university puffer jacket. An item which never fails to go out of style and makes you seem sporty and outgoing, even if you’re like me and basically joined the society for the stash.
