Winter Beauty
Costanza Sardelli delves into the world of winter beauty and recommends some looks for Exeposé readers to try out
With autumn coming to a close and winter opening its doors in the middle of another lockdown, now seems to be the best time to sharpen your makeup skills and expand your repertoire. To all of those feeling as though experimenting with new trends and engaging in a little makeup therapy has helped them immensely in keeping entertained and feeling put together, here is your comprehensive guide to beauty trends this winter. Be it for a themed zoom party or get-together with your closest friends, there is something for everyone to try out.
GLITTER
This guide would be incomplete without a little sparkle. Try a wash of high-shine shadow on the eye, or perhaps some loose glitter if you are feeling adventurous, don’t be afraid to experiment.
DEWY COMPLEXION
Combatting the drying effects of the harsh, cold winter can sometimes leave our skin feeling a little drier than we may like, but fret not! Apply a serum and thick moisturizer if your skin needs a little extra loving this season to create a flawless base to work on. To achieve that healthy glow-from-within look you may want to try a liquid highlighter and apply it on the highest points of your face (cheekbones, tip of the nose and brow bones).
MONOCHROME
For those who don’t want to splurge on a vast array of makeup products this winter, you are in luck. Monochromatic eyes seem to be a very popular trend this season. Why not try an all-white winter look? Or perhaps an icy azure to combat those winter blues. Purple is another favourite this year, give it a go.
SIMPLE ACCENTS
Need a little pick-me up? Coloured or glitter liner will work wonders for any of the upcoming holiday festivities. To those who prefer to keep it simple and sleek, adding a simple accent of colour will take your makeup to the next level with minimum effort needed.
STATEMENT LIP
The ultimate lazy-girl hack this winter is a statement lip colour: be it the classic vampy lip or an exuberant neon shade, there is something for every taste. To take your look that extra step further why not dab a little gloss on the centre of the lip?
BACK TO THE 90S
This winter it’s all about makeup from the 90s. Time to whip out your brown-toned lipstick shades and eyeliner. It might be fun to look through some old photographs and draw inspiration from your parents if you have some spare time on your hands.
