After quite possibly the best weekend of my life, I was desperate to once again secure Glastonbury tickets. So, at 9 am, November 17th, along with millions of others, I navigated the new and improved Glastonbury ticket system. Developed by the festival’s organisers to improve fairness, this new system randomly assigned registered users a place in line. The previous system, which was essentially a battle of who could refresh their page the quickest, saw tickets sell out within an hour last year. However, this year, general tickets sold out in just 35 minutes!
In comparison to last year, I found the new system more efficient, and unlike last year, my webpage didn’t crash once! Despite my luck, others complained the new ticket system left them stuck on loading screens and without tickets. As before, it seems scoring tickets to one of the most well-known festivals has more to do with luck than anything else. Out of my group, I was the only one to get through, whilst the others failed to get past the ‘bar of doom’. The whole process took me just 20 minutes, compared to over 40 minutes last year. I have to agree that the improvements of the new system, whilst not perfect, are a step in the right direction.
…my webpage didn’t crash once!
Unfortunately, as it always stands, the demand for tickets far exceeded the supply. However, If you didn’t manage to get tickets this time around, keep an eye out for the resale next spring. You might still have a chance, and it is well worth a try! For all those lucky ones who managed to survive the ticket frenzy, I’ll see you in Shangri-La!
