After seeing Post Malone live last year, I am hoping he will make a Wrapped appearance! (Eloise Grainger)

As music lovers eagerly anticipate the drop of Spotify Wrapped 2024 – a personalised annual summary of an individuals’ music stats – I thought I’d reveal my predictions… and expose my music taste in the process.

Now, everyone always worries about the odd, perhaps peculiar ‘Top Song’ that sneaks its way into the stats, but I am fairly confident with my guess. For the past four years without fail, All Girls Are The Same by Juice WRLD has always come out on top – I’m hoping this streak will continue. With the late African American rapper’s sixth and final album, The Party Never Ends, having dropped a few days ago, I wouldn’t be surprised if Juice continues to be one of my Top Artists, as many of his songs have been on repeat.

Other ‘Top Artists’ I’m expecting to make an appearance are The Kid Laroi, Post Malone, Travis Scott (who I’ve listened to obsessively recently) and Lana Del Rey. I saw The Kid Laroi at the Ally Pally back in April, so I’m anticipating my listening time for the Australian singer to peak around the spring season. He might even challenge Juice WRLD for the top spot for 2024! NIGHTS LIKE THIS has been consistent in all of my (haphazardly put together) playlists long before it became a trending track on TikTok. Butterfly Effect by Travis Scott will surely be amongst all the Juice and Laroi domination too!

Last year, I was just shy of 50,000 minutes – I can say with 100% certainty that my time on the app will have skyrocketed. It seems throughout 2024 I cannot function without music providing the soundtrack to anything I do. Studying, eating, walking – you can bet I’m listening to music.

I may have outlined a lot of American Rap here, but the Top Genre category always seems to be something different. I wouldn’t be shocked if techno or drum and bass makes its way into a stat somewhere, especially as techno is often the soundtrack to my assignment seasons.

Pop, hip-hop, rock and alternative indie have been known to crop up in my Spotify Wrapped – think Humble the Great, Hard Life, Fred Again, Disclosure, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. I really do listen to any genre, but I’d be convinced my Spotify is hacked if Rap doesn’t take the number one spot.
