During Spooky Season, everybody wants to get cosy with your closest friends and grab those pumpkin spice lattes and Halloween candy, but what movie should you watch? With so many different options it seems like an impossible task. However, I would sincerely recommend my favourite creepy movie: Sinister.

Sinister is primarily available to watch on Sky, Amazon Prime, or Netflix (in some regions, but not the UK). However, being a 2012 film means it’s largely available on DVD or Blu-Ray, for those of you who have a way to play them. Even if it’s a little tricky to find, I can assure you it’s the perfect spooky watch, particularly for people that aren’t fond of graphic images.

Whilst most horror movies are rated 18+ due to gore, Sinister is rated only 15 due to its lack of bloody imagery and lean towards the psychological genre. This makes it perfect for those who don’t like looking at stomach-churning imagery but still want a bit of a scare on Halloween night. Despite this, there is a particular scene clearly entitled ‘Mowing The Lawn’, during which slasher haters should avert their gaze!

Spoiler-free, the plot of Sinister is a story of a true crime writer who watches a variety of home videos found in his new home; an unknown serial killer is revealed as being behind the murders he is researching. Personally, the twists and turns within this movie make it an incredibly intriguing watch and perfect for both true crime and film buffs.

The mind-boggling effects of Sinister make it a flawless psychological horror to watch this Halloween. Be warned: the jump scares and unbelievable ending will leave you amazed! For those still not convinced by my article, the trailer alone will have you hooked – take a look and you will be on the edge of your seat.
