Conservative Party Conference 2026 (via Isabella Brooks)

On my way to Exeter St David’s, I happened to come across the Communist Party of Great Britain. They had erected a small wooden table outside Tesco, handing out literature on an array of topics: the dismantling NATO, the full renationalisation of our NHS, and a modern-day communist manifesto. Perhaps it was the irony of where I was going that amused me, but I felt obliged to take some leaflets. I might have found it funny at the time, but reflecting on it during my replacement coach to Birmingham, I saw it as a reminder of the breadth of political discourse.

Beyond the left-right divide, Exeposé attending the Conservative Party Conference 2026 (CPC2026) is unprecedented. (We tried for the Labour Party Conference too, but received no response.) Without the counterweight of the other great titan in British politics, it is important to reflect on what this opportunity means to the University of Exeter. It is easy to make our attendance sound grandiose, but this is really about using our platform to give Exeter a different perspective on both political and student life as a whole.

If we – Isabella Brooks, Deputy Editor; Sebastian Stanwell-Wise, co-host of Off the Page; and Sam Jordan, our social media man – can find ourselves in Birmingham for the next few days, there is no reason you can’t join us. If this is not physically, then at least in heart. The next few days will, I hope, also showcase what Exeposé offers its students by way of professional journalism.
