Louise Mills and Violet Stapleton reveal their tips for the perfect movie night this Halloween.

Louise says:
No matter how much you love the Halloween season, there may come a year when you want something a little more relaxed; the perfect, lowkey Halloween night in.
Your first stop is M&S. Their picky bits are carb heaven, but their Halloween selection is second to none. Savoury or sweet you can load up on a variety of themed goodies, enough to last you until their Christmas chocolates come out. I’m kidding, they’re already on the shelves.
Next, choose your vibe. Are you a classic eighties horror fan? Do you prefer a slasher story or something a bit more family friendly? Finally, are you preparing for a long night of sequels or reboots, or are you more one-and-done?
You have your classics, like Friday the Thirteenth if you want a franchise slasher, or you can pick anything from George A. Romero’s catalogue if you’re a zombie fan. The Scream movies just keep coming if you want something a little more recent. But, personally, I always go back to Cabin in The Woods, the 2011 meta-fictional feature with a pre-Thor Chris Hemsworth. Whether you’re a horror connoisseur or just a seasonal enjoyer, it’s got every cliché and every monster covered.
I always go back to Cabin in The Woods.
Violet says:
If you find yourself in on Halloween night, here are some film recommendations to bring the horror to your home.
If you’re a fan of some comedy with your horror, Jennifer’s Body is the film for you. This 2009 film stars Megan Fox as Jennifer, a teenage girl who turns monstrous after a demonic ritual, and her best friend Needy (Amanda Seyfried) who is determined to prevent Jennifer’s murderous exploits. A perfect blend of dry humour and eeriness, Jennifer’s Body is the perfect choice for your night.
An alternative choice if you’re interested in animated horror and mystery, is the 2014 mini-series Over the Garden Wall, which takes about 110 minutes to complete. This show follows Wirt and Greg, half-brothers lost in a mystical woods, as they encounter fantastical people and creatures. The stunning visuals, haunting soundtrack, and intriguing plot make this a must-watch for Halloween.
If you’re more of an action-horror fan, Dog Soldiers is the film for you. A group of British soldiers go to the Scottish Highlands on a training exercise and are hunted by werewolves. This 2002 movie is high-stakes and scary, using practical effects for its horror, and is a fantastic watch for the night.
The stunning visuals, haunting soundtrack, and intriguing plot make [Over the Garden Wall] a must-watch for Halloween.
