We are coming to the end of our first term. Deadlines are looming. So here is a playlist to inspire and provoke thoughts on matters outside assignments and exams.
This playlist is a reminder, an invitation to educate and join the fight against issues we have faced, are facing, and will likely face in the future. While this playlist highlights our shortcomings, it is also proof that solidarity is the answer.
From racism, war, misogyny, homophobia, political corruption and environmental neglect, this playlist covers all. It looks back and remembers everything and everyone who has come before us, inspiring us to keep evolving and never settle for society as we know it now. We can, and must, always improve.
This playlist collates different artists from many walks of life across many different genres. It is not meant to be a coherent progression of music; it treats every song for what it is, each as an individual story with a unique narrator. If there is any coherence, it is in the powerful message they hold and the emotions behind the lyrics.
We hope readers will find songs within this playlist that speak to them and their situations; songs that provide a new perspective on matters they were less affiliated with or have not noticed until now. After all, it is both a sense of unity and the curiosity and courage to seek new understandings that drive change.
