Bristol airport has seen disruptions this week, with cancelled flights and queues at security. The airport has been under some pressure for a couple of weeks, according to Bristol Live. This pressure has culminated this week with the half-term and four-day bank holiday for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The disruption is partially rooted in staff shortages, and the airport hopes to recruit 100 more employees to address this on the 9th June at a job fair. With a lengthy security vetting process, Bristol airport has asked the government to speed up the process so that employees can start in time for the summer holidays.

“We are doing all we can”

Richard Tomasson

The disruption has been addressed by the airport with ITV reporting that the head of customer operations, Richard Tomasson, has said: “We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused, we do share their frustration. My reassurance to customers going forward is that we are doing all we can to shore up those numbers.”
