Something about greasy food the morning after a heavy night out just has the capability to make you feel almost human again; and if you’re craving a stack of pancakes draped in maple syrup or your typical fry up, then look no further residents of EX4, because I’ve got the locations serving the best comfort food to cure that hangover!
All you can eat breakfast. Need I say more?
If a full English is what you’re after, then head over to Brody’s Breakfast Bistro! All the breakfast classics as well as unlimited waffles and ice cream (with an absurd amount of toppings) are available. It’s cheaper to go on a weekday – you can load up your plate as many times as you’d life for £9.95. Breakfast after TP Wednesday is well and truly sorted if you ask me.
After paying the five quid to gain access to top-top, you may be inclined to drown your sorrows the next morning – but in coffee, rather than liquor. Now I may not be a coffee drinker myself (I know, shocking coming from a newspaper editor), but my very reliable source (my coffee-drinking friends) have informed me that Sundays is the best place to go in Exeter for your fix of caffeine. Famous for their bagels, you can enjoy your breakfast and brew with a view of the quay. Nothing like reconnecting with nature after making it back from the club.
I have survived many TP nights over my three years in Exeter, but one moment I particularly remember – somehow –was the god-awful decision to dip margarita pizza from the Timepiece Burger Shack into a red venom. At the time I thought it was an amazing combo, but now I can’t help but look back and give myself the ick. But what is an amazing combo is a stack of pancakes topped with fresh fruit. This is a menu must-have from Bills, which is on Gandy Street. Aside from their famous 3 stack bacon pancakes, they also have a variety of breakfast types from the vegetarian Garden Plate to the traditional Bill’s Big Brunch.

If you want to beat the grogginess, take a walk down to the end of Fore Street where there is a little hidden treasure – Sacred Grounds. It is in a nice quiet corner of the city that is great to have brekkie in and recover from the night before. This brunch spot is a plant-based café – I recommend the caramelised apple and chai spiced crème anglaise organic waffles.
So whatever state you stumble home in after a night out, just know there are numerous hangover brunch spots where you can refuel the morning after to get your greasy food fix.
