“I think that Cat and Alan are traitors.”

These were the words that Joe Marler left audiences with before the final episode of The Celebrity Traitors. Despite there being two Traitors left in the final, The Traitors Season 2 winner, Harry Clark, declared it the “biggest fumble” if the Faithful lose.

But how did we get here?

The highly anticipated The Celebrity Traitors followed the success of The Traitors, however this time, it was 19 Celebrities took on the round table. The Traitors were: Cat Burns, Alan Carr and Jonathan Ross.

Ross and Burns seemed to adopt a calmer demeanour, with Ross delving into strategic plans such as murdering Ruth Codd as a double bluff, and Burns managing to go undetected for most of the show. Whereas, the visibly distressed Carr fully embraced his traitorous role by murdering his close friend, Paloma Faith(ful) in plain sight, whilst giving a heartfelt speech at her funeral – talk about betrayal.

Luckily for Carr, the faithful seemed more distracted by comments of being “flabbergasted” than to notice the quite literal Carr-Crash; this was the man who could not say “I am a Faithful” without bursting into laughter. A lack of strategy from the Faithful meant it took seven episodes for the first Traitor, Jonathan Ross, to be banished.

However, like a breaking news banner, the words: “I think that Cat and Alan are Traitors” seemed to derail the Traitors’ chances.

After banishing Burns, it looked as though Clark was right that the Faithful could not lose, and hopes for a dramatic final were fading. However, Marler’s “I’m sorry” towards Burns sealed the Faithful’s fate, leading to Marler’s one “hundry percent Faithful” Nick Mohammed as well as David Olusoga turning on Marler in a shocking turn of events.

Marler’s banishment made a tearful Carr the winner of The Celebrity Traitors, donating the prize pot of £87,500 to Neuroblastoma, a children’s cancer charity.

The Celebrity Traitors have left us with iconic moments, such as Celia Imrie owning up to her fart and Tom Daley’s side-eye. However, this rendition seemed to lack the strategy and cutthroat nature prevalent in the original version. Most disappointingly, all the players seemed to be able to spell each other’s names correctly (most of the time).
