It’s Easter Sunday. You wake up, filled with excitement and rush to the window overlooking the garden. In amongst the flowers and the potted plants, you catch glimmers of shiny coloured foil that encases chocolate eggs that have been hidden by the Easter Bunny himself. The best part of the day is the highly anticipated Easter Egg hunt, of course followed by engorging on the chocolate found until your parents have told you you’ve had enough. Easter Sunday used to be filled with so much delight, but as an adult it feels as though it is not as exciting as it once was. But why not be reminiscent of our childhood this Easter? Here are some suggestions of how to make the most of your Easter Sunday this year.

Easter Sunday used to be filled with so much delight, but as an adult it feels as though it is not as exciting as it once was. But why not be reminiscent of our childhood this Easter?

Easter brunch

Start the day off right with an Easter themed brunch. Think eggs (real ones not chocolate, yet), hot cross buns (in more flavours than one), maybe some bacon, pancakes, fresh fruit, the lot. Turn the brunch boozy with an Easter-themed tipple – make a Mini Egg Martini or a Spring Spritz that bursts with elderflower and fruity, fresh Spring flavours.

Easter baking

Grab your favourite Easter chocolate – whether it be Cadbury’s Crème Eggs or Mini Eggs – and get creative in the kitchen. You could make the classic Easter Nests which are the perfect sweet snack to enjoy in the afternoon, or go all out with loaded chocolate brownies filled and topped with your Easter egg chocolate of choice. Alternatively, opt for something lighter like the traditional Simnel cake, a white chocolate and raspberry loaf or Mary Berry’s orange cake.

Get outdoors

Get the family together outdoors this Easter weekend. Whether it be an ultimate Easter egg hunt or a simple walk enjoying the fresh air, it is important to appreciate nature and you may spy some Spring flowers like the daffodil. Maybe even play some games! If you’re unlucky enough like me to be dragged into a game of French cricket, I can confirm it is fun once you get a hang of it.

BBQ

Swap out your classic Sunday roast for a barbeque this Easter Sunday. As we are now firmly in Spring, the weather is starting to look a little brighter meaning we are ever closer to BBQ weather. Easter is the perfect opportunity to have a BBQ and get into the Spring/Summer spirit!
