Exeter subjects have come out on top in the influential Complete University Guide rankings for 2020. Released on 1 May, the rankings place 26 Exeter subjects in top ten positions, and 36 in the top 20.
Top achievers were Sports Science, Anthropology, Business and Management Studies, and Medical Technology, all ranking third in the country, while Sociology ranked fourth. Drama, Marketing, Middle Eastern and African Studies, English, French, Politics, Engineering, and History were also ranked within the top ten.
The university also rose in the main rankings, rising one place to secure 11th place nationwide. It also ranked joint-tenth for graduate prospects.

University Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Steve Smith commented: “This is an extremely competitive ranking, and to be consistently ranked amongst the very best in the country is a testament to the enthusiasm, dedication and hard-work of everyone within the University.”
Rankings rest on ten measures: Student Satisfaction, Research Quality, Research Intensity, Entry Standards, Student: Staff Ratio; Spending on Academic Services; Spending on Student Facilities; Good Honours Degrees; Graduate Prospects and Completion.
Dr Bernard Kingston, chairman of the Guide, said: “The evidence is clear; the increased emphasis on employability and career planning within academic departments and student services is bearing fruit”.
