The University has introduced one-way systems, sanitising stations, signage and a marquee as part of the plans to keep campus COVID-secure.

Doorways at the Physics Building, Building One and Peter Chalk have been given designated sides for entering and exiting, but at Queen’s and the IAIS, the signage reminded visitors to remain cautious.

Outside, the pavements have been spray painted with symbols reminding people of the two metre social distancing rule.

Some smaller pathways such as those by Cornwall House and Amory are themselves only two metres wide, so maintaining the full distance may be difficult.

The Forum’s main entrance has also been separated into one-way lanes, with the barrier extending a few metres both outside and into the foyer.

A screen has also been erected to separate the information help desk, whilst further barriers are in place around Pret and The Marketplace.

The mezzanine walkways have been halved for separate directions of the one-way system, while all the study desks have been marked as no longer in use. Classrooms are also marked with a sign noting their maximum capacity.

Lesser-used doorways such as the one near Costa have signs reading “give way to others” while the back door is now entrance-only. The communal piano is also out of use, and is postered with coronavirus awareness campaigns.

To ensure ventilation, every window has been marked with a poster urging people to keep them open.

A large marquee roughly measuring 15×20 metres is a prominent addition, taking up the piazza outside the Great Hall.
