The Depression Triptych

Part 1: crying

Trapped in a water torture cell

Filling up with my never-ending tears.

I foresee and feel myself slowly

Drowning, but unlike

Houdini I’m no escape artist –

Although I do feel like I’ve been punched in the gut.

Part 2: hopeless

It’s not going to get better.

It only grows and evolves and consumes –

Not in the form of the proverbial Black Dog but as a

Tumour –

Once upon a time it may have been operable and

Benign.

 Part 3: numb

It’s a solid fog. Nothing else exists.

No happiness, no sadness, no anger,

No feeling.
