Bob Dylan

Album Review: Courtney Marie Andrews – May Your Kindness Remain

For some, being rated as ‘midway between Dolly Parton and Whitney Houston’ by the NME might be a little daunting, but bohemian Arizona singer-songwriter Courtney Marie Andrews seems to take it in her stride. With her fourth record recorded in just eight days and released today, May Your Kindness Remain is an album countless fans […]

Ahead of this month’s tour which will see him perform with a full band for the first time, London folk singer Will Varley spoke to Exeposé Music about his upcoming album, favourite tour spots and who inspired him to pursue a career in music in the beginning. Your new album Spirit of Minnie is set […]

Regular Records?

How often should an artist release a record? In the streaming era especially, this is up for debate. If we look back at some older artists, especially in the 1960s, bands would release multiple records a year; in the early days of the Beatles’ careers, they released two albums a year from 1963-1965, without a […]

Proud Disturber of the Peace: An Interview with William the Conqueror’s Ruarri Joseph

Ruarri Joseph’s new alternative project, William The Conqueror, released their awaited debut album, Proud Distributer of the Peace, earlier this year. Joseph’s new rock focused endeavour, recorded in sessions throughout the band’s trip to Cornwall and the Isle of Lewis, draws from Americana and bluesy-indie rock. The band’s gritty sound has gained them a following, […]

An Obituary to Tom Petty

Tom Petty, one of the great songwriters of the 70s through 90s, died this week aged 66. He is one of the best selling musicians of all time, having sold over 80 million records. He leaves behind a vast string of hits from both a solo career and predominantly as part of the group the […]

Nobel prize in literature 2017: Kazuo Ishiguro receives award

Having chosen, amidst considerable controversy, to award last year’s Nobel prize in literature to singer-songwriter Bob Dylan, those waiting for this year’s announcement were naturally a little uncertain of exactly what to expect. Therefore, I found myself somewhat relieved and more than a little satisfied to discover this year’s recipient was Kazuo Ishiguro, a writer […]

Album Review: Passenger – The Boy Who Cried Wolf

Eight albums already in, Passenger is back for one last time before he takes a long deserved break, adding an additional 10 tracks to his already officially released 89. Before even breaking into the album we know what to expect at this point, and hats off to Mike Rosenberg because he does it so well; […]

Festival Review: Isle of Wight 2017

Friday   The weather report for the Isle of Wight had told us to panic buy Wellington boots, and we envisaged to wear them for the entire duration of the festival. The outlook predicted 3 days of nothing but rain macs, soggy chips, and a leaking tent. Miraculously, we boarded a ferry in Southampton after […]

Live Review: Whitney & Julia Jacklin @ Thekla, Bristol

US indie band Whitney have really been bubbling under the surface in 2016, only to sneak onto some of the most prestigious Album of the Year lists this month, something that will surely find them a far wider audience as they continue to tour their debut album Light Upon the Lake into 2017. Channeling a […]

From Craigslist to The White House – An Interview with Neyla Pekarek of The Lumineers

I was lucky enough to interview the lovely Neyla Pekarek before seeing her live last month. You may have heard of her band, The Lumineers, they are the reason when I say “Ho” you think “Hey”. Plus they have recently released a damn good album, Cleopatra. Whilst I tried to not be too starstruck, we […]

As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell Group universities, we stand united against the Russell Group statement which declared ‘no detriment’ or ‘safety net’ policies not to be ‘appropriate’ or ‘necessary’ for students at this time.

Having listened to students at our universities, we are calling on the Russell Group to act compassionately and empathetically and to reconsider their stance on ‘no detriment’ politics for assessments this year.

Students deserve to be listened to.
