christmas market

‘Exe-mas’ has Arrived

Locals and students alike took to the streets of Exeter city centre last week to enjoy the beginning of the Christmas countdown alongside live music and entertainment before the Christmas lights were turned on by members of the Exeter Chiefs and the Christmas Market officially opened. Radio Exe hosted the night from 4pm on Thursday 16th […]

Merry Exe-mas: A Review of Exeter’s Christmas Market

As a Christmas baby, I’ve always associated the switching on of lights and wafts of cinnamon borne on the headier scent of pine with the absolutely, unquestionably, definitively best time of the year. Mixed with a dangerous tendency towards materialism and comfort eating, this adoration of the festive season makes German markets like our own […]

Santa or Secret Scrooge? (Gift Guide)

We’ve all been there. You’re given a £10 budget and told to turn a pumpkin into a carriage. Most people, tragically, resort to type. Christmas is a strange time for walking around the city. The festively illuminated streets are made to look so much more inviting than usual. But, why is this so strange; surely every street is designed to beckon you down it? Surely every shop is always trying to entice you in, all year round? Well, no. […]

When Freshers’ gets tough, the tough go shopping

Coming to university in Exeter means you are granted access to a top level of academic tuition, a beautiful campus, great people, but most importantly, brilliant shopping. I came from a small city with barely a New Look and a Dorothy Perkins to rub together; so coming to Exeter was great for my shopping passion, […]
