Freshers Flu

How to Survive Freshers’ Flu

Print Comment Editor Kamila Bell gives us her tried-and-tested tips on tackling the fabled Freshers’ Flu I was five weeks into my first year of uni, five weeks of almost consecutive nights out followed by mornings of regret, when I awake one day to discover that my Deliveroo order is not subsiding my banging headache […]

Post- Freshers Feelings

Doing Post-Freshers the second year is easy. Of course it is. You just have to make sure you catch that bottle of milk before it goes sour, wave the tea towel at that fire alarm when you burn your first non-catered accommodation meal. Everyone pretends they know what they are doing with bills, when nobody […]

The Alternative Freshers Flu Fix

Although many people still debate about the origins of this terrible affliction, Freshers’ Flu is a yearly reminder that we are still young adults who are not capable of taking care of ourselves. Gotta get flu this

So you’re in Unit 1, right. And Eminem’s One Shot’s just come on. You’re getting down, arms waving to the sick beat, rapping along with: “Yo / His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy / There’s vomit on his sweater already…” when it dawns on you. This sounds familiar. You look down – […]

Hanging out with a headache

The hangover. Most of us have been there, and those that haven’t are dodging a bullet. For every vodka-flowing, VK-chugging night you have this week (I’m looking at you, EURFC), you’ll probably have to deal with the symptoms of the hideous hangover the following morning. With this in mind, surely it is only fair that you’re […]

12 stages of Freshers’ Week (as told by Parks + Rec gifs)

Pre-drinking with the new friends / strangers you’ll be living with for the next year. Going out for the first time totally overdressed. Heels and hills don’t mix. Enjoy the 2 hour walk home. Excessively complimenting people you’ve only just met on a night out. Stumbling into the kitchen at 2pm to compare hangovers with […]

As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell Group universities, we stand united against the Russell Group statement which declared ‘no detriment’ or ‘safety net’ policies not to be ‘appropriate’ or ‘necessary’ for students at this time.

Having listened to students at our universities, we are calling on the Russell Group to act compassionately and empathetically and to reconsider their stance on ‘no detriment’ politics for assessments this year.

Students deserve to be listened to.
