How Vampyr Brings its World to Life With Consequences

Murder is often a minor offence; an inconsequential event in the wider context of the world – or at least, that usually seems to be the case in video games. Nostalgia Hit: Vampire: the Masquerade

Alongside such venerable companions as grunge, the Nintendo 64 and, uh, WWE wrestling, the pen-and-paper role-playing game did not survive long in the mainstream come the turn of the millenium, but experienced huge popularity throughout the ’90s. These days, however, when most people think of tabletop RPGs they think of 20-sided dice and nerds with […]

6 Fallout 4 tracks that are perfect for Itchy Feet

So, why on Earth have Fallout 4, an open world game that released last month on PC and current generation consoles, and Itchy Feet, a vintage dance night touring round 25 cities in the UK including Exeter’s very own Unit 1, been put together? And, it’s not just because I have nothing better to do, […]

Review: Fallout 4

War. War never changes. Although this isn’t strictly true in the case of Fallout 4, and some might even be a little controversial: in fact, a whole host of things have changed as we venture our way through Boston’s annihilated Commonwealth. For existing fans of the series, this is everything you could want from a […]

Sequel-ation: The Elder Scrolls

In an industry saturated by numerous first person shooters, it would be easy to think that meaningful single player experiences are becoming a thing of the past. Thankfully, there are still some companies who put quality in front of quantity. With stellar franchises such as Wolfenstein, Fallout, Dishonoured and The Evil Within; Bethesda is definitely […]

Noct Review

My breathing is heavy, the lights are off and I am all alone. Walking through what appears to be an abandoned city, I tread carefully, knowing that whatever is in the unknown will kill me. “Friendly?” I read, pixelated text hovering over a doorway. “Yes” I reply, knowing that the wrong word could kill me. […]

Review: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I close the door behind me. Drowners are clawing at the wooden frame whilst I catch my breath. I’m inside a tower filled with rats and the smell of death. I pull out a small lamp, which begins to emit an eerie glow. Suddenly the room is crowded with spirits all calling out and talking. These […]

As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell Group universities, we stand united against the Russell Group statement which declared ‘no detriment’ or ‘safety net’ policies not to be ‘appropriate’ or ‘necessary’ for students at this time.

Having listened to students at our universities, we are calling on the Russell Group to act compassionately and empathetically and to reconsider their stance on ‘no detriment’ politics for assessments this year.

Students deserve to be listened to.
