Live Review: The Japanese House @ Thekla, Bristol

Mysterious and ominous, the venue for The Japanese House’s performance, Thekla, is a docked boat that looms in the harbour, a stone’s throw from the heart of Bristol city centre. Although it appears cold and unforgiving from the outside, once inside, it opens up into a small and intimate venue, for no more than 200 […]

Exeposé Music’s Best Albums of 2017: #20-11

20. Marika Hackman       I’m Not Your Man Bold, sharp, and cuttingly honest, second album I’m Not Your Man sees Hackman move away from the outwardly folkier sounds of We Slept At Last and towards something truly her own. Whilst backing instrumentals provided by The Big Moon provide the backbone of I’m Not Your Man, it is […]

Live Review: Wolf Alice @ O2 Academy Bristol

It’s been a minute since I’ve been to a really sweaty, moshy gig. I hadn’t realised how much I missed it until Wednesday night. Support act Superfood kicked off what was to be a truly memorable night at Bristol’s O2 academy with a set that, without wanting to sound too cringingly British, I can only […]

Album Review: Wolf Alice – Visions of a Life

North London quartet Wolf Alice’s second LP Visions of a Life is released today, and is one of the year’s most anticipated alternative/indie releases after the huge success of debut My Love is Cool. With the new record’s predecessor making the ‘Best Albums of the Year’ lists in The Guardian, NME, Q and Rough Trade, […]

There’s A Honey: An Interview with Pale Waves’ Heather Baron-Gracie

Hailed as ‘your newest indie-pop sensation’ by The Fader, Manchester’s latest indie offering Pale Waves were one of this year’s highly acclaimed performers on the Reading and Leeds BBC Introducing Stage. Following their appearance earlier this year as special guest on The 1975’s sold out USA and Europe tours, and their music video for second […]

Album Review: Alvvays – Antisocialites

Described by Mojo as not sounding far off The Velvet Underground, Canadian indie pop favourites Alvvays brought smiles to fans around the globe with the release of their second LP Antisocialites last week; a release which sounds comfortably familiar yet also shows a mature progress as an experienced band. Similarly to their eponymous debut, the […]

Ghostbusters, Paris and Punk: An Interview with Wolf Alice’s Theo Ellis

Despite only releasing their debut single in 2013, Wolf Alice are excitingly counting down the days until their second album, Visions of a Life, is released for all the world to hear. With their 2015 debut, My Love is Cool, making the ‘Best Albums of the Year’ lists in The Guardian, NME, Q and Rough […]

EP Review – Crows – Cold Comfort

If you were lucky enough to see Wolf Alice or Slaves last year, you may already be familiar with Crows but you’d be forgiven for never having heard of them. It’s early days for the fledgling post-punk quartet but since landing a succession of cushy support slots throughout 2015, Crows have gone from strength to […]

Bestival 2016: Everything you need to know

The word ‘eclectic’ is often banded around whilst describing festivals and their lineups, however when it comes to Bestival, it couldn’t be more fitting. Taking place within the grounds of Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight, this weird and wonderful shindig, as curated by ex-BBC Radio 1 DJ Rob Da Bank, sees […]

As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell Group universities, we stand united against the Russell Group statement which declared ‘no detriment’ or ‘safety net’ policies not to be ‘appropriate’ or ‘necessary’ for students at this time.

Having listened to students at our universities, we are calling on the Russell Group to act compassionately and empathetically and to reconsider their stance on ‘no detriment’ politics for assessments this year.

Students deserve to be listened to.
