Review: Manchester by the Sea

Manchester by the Sea is a film about dealing with grief and wrongdoing in one’s life. Directed by Kenneth Lonergan, a 54 year old playwright and theatre director, the film concerns a Boston janitor, named Lee, played by Casey Affleck. Lee is a cynical pessimist who is seemingly haunted and tormented in his life, often […]

Working nine-to-five: Working alongside your studies

I know that for a lot of people, having a part-time job at university seems entirely alien, with some more privileged scoffing at the idea. For others, a job is a necessity to fund the excessive tuition and living costs that we have signed up to pay. For me, part-time work offers a nice flow […]

Review: Jason Bourne

I am writing this review a few days after seeing Jason Bourne on the big screen, and quite honestly I’m finding it hard to recall the specifics – all that sticks in my mind are the audacious action set-pieces. This does not bode well for writing a review, obviously, but it is telling of the […]

BBC R1 Big Weekend: Matty Healy (The 1975) Interview

It’s a few hours before The 1975 are due to perform their 5pm slot on the Sunday of BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Exeter, and I’ve been given five minutes with Matty Healy, the band’s frontman. This makes me nervous, because A. The 1975 are pretty big, B. Matty Healy seems far too cool […]

Review: Captain America: Civil War

I‘LL be honest, I’m bored of Marvel films. I was bored before Civil War, and I’m still bored. Way back in 2008 I was excited for each release that followed the brilliant Iron Man, which kicked things off. I also really enjoyed Thor and The Avengers, as Phase One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe came […]

Album Review: Drake – Views

Since the album was announced way back in 2014, Drake has dropped a surprise mixtape If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late and collaboration album with Future What a Time to Be Alive. After two years of anticipation, […]
