Live Review: Inflatable pizza carnage at Lower Than Atlantis gig

‘Carnage’: the word frontman, Mike Duce used to describe Lower Than Atlantis’s Wednesday night show at the Lemon Grove. It was a night of inflatable pizzas, copious crowd surfing and a serious amount of blood from Mosh Pit related injuries. It was a night to shake off those early week blues, and get over the […]

Lower Than Atlantis interview

Just over a year ago Lower Than Atlantis released their 5th studio album Safe in Sound, which reached number eight on the UK official album charts and was quickly followed by a UK headline tour. Now the Watford-based band have headed out on a three-month long tour travelling across Europe, the UK and Australia (even stopping […]

Time’s Up Now

Two weeks ago an array of celebrities attended the 75th Golden Globes in an annual celebration of the past year’s television and film successes. But on this special occasion, the night will be remembered for much more than just the awards handed out to the selected winners. Host Seth Meyers’ managed the hard task of […]

Album Review: Don Broco – Technology

After a string of single releases, a sold out show at Alexandra Palace and a few innovative music videos, Bedford band Don Broco, have officially released Technology, their long awaited third studio album. The band has been teasing the album’s release since they put out a video to ‘Everybody’ back in July 2016 and have […]

Live Review: Liam Fray @ Bristol Thekla

“Liam! Liam! Liam!” Not many artists can be late to their own gig and be greeted with a supportive chant from the crowd. Maybe they all counted themselves lucky they weren’t waiting over an hour for Rihanna. Though considering no one was moving it was easy to begin to get restless as the heat from […]

Preview: Liam Fray @ Bristol Thekla

To make things clear, playing to 50,000 people at Emirates Old Trafford is pretty impressive. Having performed at the enormous venue earlier this summer, The Courteeners’ frontman, Liam Fray, is now stripping things back a bit and going it solo for a sixteen-day acoustic tour. It’s no surprise that these shows were just as popular […]

Album Review: John Mayer – The Search for Everything

If you’re not a major Mayer fan, you may not have noticed that his input on the music market has been pretty minimal for a couple of years. Apart from touring with Dead & Company, he’s spent most of his time hiding in the studio working harder and longer than before on his greatly anticipated […]

Album Review: Deaf Havana – All These Countless Nights

Rock band Deaf Havana have been pretty silent (some assumed finished) since the release of their third album Old Souls back in 2013. It was followed up by the mysterious release of ‘Cassiopeia’ in 2015, but gave no indication of what the band was up to next. After a rocky few years as a band […]

Live Review: City and Colour at Cardiff’s Great Hall

Standing slightly off centre, Dallas Green takes to the stage to perform as the better known City and Colour for the second night of his UK tour. The sold out gig is one that surpasses any other I’ve been to for a long time. A still atmosphere, not caused by not knowing the words but […]

An Interview with Enter Shikari

Two years after the band announced their side project, the Shikari Sound System, dubbed their “electronic alter-ego”, Enter Shikari released their first ever remix album, The Mindsweep: Hospitalised. Drawn together in collaboration with producers of cult South London record label Hospital Records, the album is just what the title suggests. “It was quite surreal”. Although […]

As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell As editors of student newspapers at all 24 Russell Group universities, we stand united against the Russell Group statement which declared ‘no detriment’ or ‘safety net’ policies not to be ‘appropriate’ or ‘necessary’ for students at this time.

Having listened to students at our universities, we are calling on the Russell Group to act compassionately and empathetically and to reconsider their stance on ‘no detriment’ politics for assessments this year.

Students deserve to be listened to.
